Fertilizer Industries have jointly launched the Southeast Asia Fertilizer
Association (SEAFA), a new regional platform aimed at strengthening food
security and deepening industry collaboration across Southeast Asia.
The association was formally introduced during the Argus Fertilizer Asia Conference 2026 in Bali, marking a significant step towards closer regional coordination in addressing agricultural and food supply challenges. SEAFA is designed to facilitate knowledge sharing, champion sustainable practices, and drive vital policy dialogue to advance agriculture, food security, and the energy transition.
As founding members, the three companies have agreed on a collaborative governance structure to ensure inclusive leadership and regional representation. For the inaugural term, PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) will serve as Chair, with PCG as Co-Chair, while Brunei Darussalam will host the association’s headquarters.
“SEAFA represents a strategic milestone for Southeast Asia’s fertilizer industry,” said Rahmad Pribadi, President Director of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero). “Through this association, we will strengthen regional collaboration, improve supply resilience, and support ASEAN’s food security by ensuring farmers have reliable access to fertilizers.”
The association will focus on promoting knowledge exchange, advancing sustainable fertilizer production, and strengthening regional cooperation across agricultural value chains.
Mazuin Ismail, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of PCG said the initiative highlights the importance of regional partnerships in addressing evolving agricultural and climate challenges. “Strong fertilizer supply is fundamental to ensuring food security for the agriculture industry in Southeast Asia and platforms like SEAFA serve as an important avenue for industry players to come together and address shared regional challenges, build greater supply resilience, accelerate innovation and advance more sustainable practices to ultimately improve agricultural productivity.”
SEAFA will also engage with regional and global bodies to promote sustainable agriculture and support low-carbon fertilizer production.
Dr. Harri Kiiski, Chief Executive Officer of Brunei Fertilizer Industries welcomed the association as one of its founding members. “The future challenges of adopting more sustainable practices in the manufacturing and use of fertilizer products are too significant to be addressed alone. There is a need for a unified industry voice to engage ASEAN decision-makers in reducing the carbon footprint in both the production and use of fertilizers. Brunei is proud to host the association, leveraging its central location within ASEAN member countries.”
Moving forward, SEAFA plans to expand membership to include other fertilizer producers across Southeast Asia. The association will also develop joint initiatives, including regional forums, technical exchanges, and policy dialogues to strengthen industry collaboration and support ASEAN’s broader food security and sustainable agriculture agenda.
