PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) is collaborating with the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) to accelerate the redemption of subsidized fertilizers in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi. A concrete step in this collaboration was marked by the event titled “Farmer Dialogue and Joint Redemption at Boddong Sapaya Farmer Kiosk.”

During the event, Tri Wahyudi Saleh, Director of Asset Management at Pupuk Indonesia, encouraged all registered farmers to promptly redeem their allocated subsidized fertilizers as determined by the Government.

Tri Wahyudi further stated that Gowa Regency is one of the regions receiving a large allocation of subsidized fertilizers, which can be utilized by approximately 87,000 farmers. To date, redemption realization has only reached 21 percent of the total allocation.

“Gowa Regency has a very large fertilizer allocation, including organic fertilizer, which is an extraordinary potential. We urge registered farmers to make full use of their rights. By redeeming the fertilizer, we can jointly improve agricultural productivity and achieve better harvest outcomes,” Tri Wahyudi said.

Through the collaboration between Pupuk Indonesia and the Ministry of Agriculture, Tri Wahyudi hopes to encourage registered farmers to redeem their subsidized fertilizers and immediately utilize them to boost productivity and contribute to national food self-sufficiency.

On the same occasion, the Director of Fertilizer at the Ministry of Agriculture, Jekvy Hendra, stated that the Directorate General of Agricultural Infrastructure and Facilities (PSP) at the Ministry is open to dialogue with farmers.

“We at PSP Kementan are ready to listen to the aspirations and complaints of farmers. Do not hesitate to report any fertilizer-related issues encountered in the field. We will take note of every problem and find a solution,” said Jekvy.

Jekvy also issued a firm directive to kiosk owners to ensure fertilizer availability. “Kiosks must ensure that subsidized fertilizer stock is always available. And to the farmers, use fertilizers wisely and in a balanced manner for optimal results,” he added.

In direct response to the discussion and guidance provided, the farmers present, along with kiosk representatives and agricultural extension officers, immediately proceeded with fertilizer redemption. A total of 10.9 tons of fertilizer was redeemed, consisting of 9.7 tons of Urea and 1.2 tons of NPK Phonska. The event, which was attended by 53 participants, serves as concrete evidence of a shared commitment to begin addressing existing challenges.

Pupuk Indonesia, together with the Ministry of Agriculture and all stakeholders, will continue to monitor the absorption of subsidized fertilizers to ensure this national strategic program runs effectively and has a direct impact on the welfare of farmers.
