More than 800 farmers and stakeholders in the agricultural sector from Bone Regency gathered at the “Rembuk Tani” (Farmer’s Gathering) event initiated by PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero). Held at the Makkasau Hotel, this grand event served as a momentum to strengthen synergy and affirm Bone’s position as one of the backbones of food security in Eastern Indonesia.

Bone Regency plays a vital role in meeting national food needs. With a production potential reaching 1 million tons per year—far exceeding the local demand of 90,000 tons—Bone makes a significant contribution as a national food barn.

Recognizing this potential, Wisnu Ramadhani, General Manager of Region 4 at PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), expressed high appreciation for the farmers of Bone. “The realization of subsidized fertilizer absorption in Bone has reached 49% of this year’s allocation. This shows the extraordinary spirit of the farmers. However, this is also a momentum to maximize it further,” said Wisnu.

Wisnu added that of the total 145,064 registered farmers, only about 50 percent had redeemed their allocations by July 2025. “There are still half of our fellow farmers who need to be encouraged to claim their rights. By maximizing fertilizer redemption, we not only increase individual productivity but also reinforce Bone’s role as a key food barn,” he emphasized.

Strong support came from Bone Regent, Andi Asman Sulaiman, who was present at the “Rembuk Tani” event. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting farmers and ensuring the smooth distribution of fertilizers.

“Farmers are the spearhead of food security, and as the regional head, it is my duty to assist them. I firmly state that there will be no tolerance for retailers who violate the rules in distributing subsidized fertilizers,” said the Regent.

Andi Asman Sulaiman stressed the importance of synergy to ensure the smooth distribution of fertilizers across all areas. “If there are problems in the field, I urge farmers to coordinate through official channels, from village leaders, agricultural extension officers, to the relevant agencies. Let’s maintain a conducive environment and work together to increase productivity year after year,” he concluded.

The event, attended by 800 participants including farmers, kiosks, distributors, and agricultural extension officers, was a clear testament to the strong agricultural ecosystem in Bone in supporting national strategic programs.
