PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) has expressed full support for the launch of the Koperasi Desa Merah Putih (KDMP) and is optimistic that this initiative will become a key driver in realizing national food self-sufficiency. KDMP will strengthen the distribution system for both subsidized and non-subsidized fertilizers in every village, thereby facilitating farmers’ access to fertilizers. The integration of KDMP into the distribution system is also part of Pupuk Indonesia’s commitment to implementing Presidential Regulation No. 6 of 2025, while supporting the President of the Republic of Indonesia’s Asta Cita vision.

During the KDMP launching event held on Monday (July 21) in Klaten, Central Java, President Prabowo Subianto stated that the establishment of Koperasi Desa Merah Putih (KDMP) would strengthen Indonesia's economy. “The concept (of cooperatives) is simple, like a bundle of sticks. A single stick is weak, meaningless. But tens or hundreds of sticks bound together become a powerful tool. From weakness, comes strength,” said President Prabowo.

President Prabowo emphasized that KDMP provides a solution to various challenges faced by farmers in the villages, including fertilizer distribution. He also stressed that cooperatives must be present to assist farmers, livestock breeders, and fishermen in rural areas. “These 80,000 cooperatives are part of our effort to shorten the distribution chains—supply chains for materials essential to the people,” he added.

Meanwhile, President Director of Pupuk Indonesia, Rahmad Pribadi, stated that the company’s support for KDMP reaffirms Pupuk Indonesia’s strategic role in advancing the national food agenda. According to him, the presence of KDMP at the village level will complement the existing fertilizer distribution ecosystem.

“We are ensuring that farmers can have comprehensive access to agricultural inputs through KDMP—from subsidized fertilizers to non-subsidized ones such as ZA, ZK, Phosgreen, Phonska Plus, organic fertilizers, and pesticides. The presence of KDMP will enhance the subsidized fertilizer distribution system, which has long supported agricultural productivity. By placing cooperatives in each village, farmers are brought closer to fertilizers,” said Rahmad.

To ensure that KDMP functions optimally as a distribution point for fertilizers to farmers, Pupuk Indonesia is providing comprehensive support, from strengthening the legal and institutional aspects of the cooperatives to enhancing human resource capacity and guaranteeing fertilizer availability at each location. Pupuk Indonesia also encourages farmer groups (Gapoktan and Poktan) to become members of the cooperatives, so that KDMP not only serves as a distribution channel but also delivers direct economic benefits to farmers.

Currently, a total of 108 KDMP mock-ups have been inaugurated in various regions, with 106 already operating in fertilizer distribution. Moving forward, Pupuk Indonesia will continue to strengthen coordination with local governments and stakeholders to ensure that the integration of KDMP into the subsidized fertilizer distribution system proceeds gradually and according to the specific needs of farmers in each region.

Pupuk Indonesia is also confident that KDMP will bring significant economic impact to farmers and rural communities.

“We are optimistic that the presence of these cooperatives will not only strengthen the agricultural ecosystem at the village level but also serve as a driving force for rural economic independence and the realization of national food self-sufficiency,” Rahmad concluded.
