PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), together with the Luwu Utara Regency Government, is supporting the accelerated absorption of subsidized fertilizer for registered farmers. This initiative aims to make Luwu Utara one of the nation’s major food production centers.

General Manager of Pupuk Indonesia Regional 4, Wisnu Ramadhani, stated that Pupuk Indonesia stands at the forefront in implementing government policies that focus on improving farmers’ productivity and welfare.

“The government is highly committed to improving farmers’ welfare, as evidenced by a significant increase in the allocation of subsidized fertilizer. Thanks to this policy, national rice stock levels have reached the highest in history, and Pupuk Indonesia plays an active role in maintaining this food stability,” said Wisnu during the “Optimization of Distribution and Joint Redemption” event.

The event, held at the I Lagaligo Building, Luwu Utara, South Sulawesi, was attended by 120 farmers, Distribution Business Operators (PUD), Point-of-Handover Recipients (PPTS), and agricultural extension officers. It successfully facilitated the redemption of 274.01 tons of subsidized fertilizer. Wisnu further emphasized the importance of monitoring at the farmer level to translate this policy into increased production.

“Therefore, I have instructed all distributors and field officers to consistently remind farmers to redeem their allocations promptly. This is crucial to ensure that future allocations for Luwu Utara remain secure and productivity continues to grow,” he stated.

At the same event, the Regent of Luwu Utara, Andi Abdullah Rahim, expressed his support for the success of the program at the regional level.

“The policy of the Minister of Agriculture to increase fertilizer allocation is a mandate for us. Luwu Utara must become a food barn. I instruct all agricultural extension officers to fully assist and back up our farmers in redeeming fertilizer at official kiosks,” he said.

As tangible proof of synergy during the event, the total redemption of subsidized fertilizer reached 274.01 tons, consisting of 109.9 tons of Urea, 148.25 tons of NPK Phonska, 10.3 tons of Special Cocoa Formula NPK, and 5.56 tons of organic fertilizer.
