PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) is once again hosting the Svarna Bhumi Award 2025, an award event dedicated to honoring food heroes who have made real contributions to the national agricultural sector. This annual program recognizes the efforts of food warriors—farmers and other food sector activists—who have had a positive impact on national food security and society.

President Director of Pupuk Indonesia, Rahmad Pribadi, stated that the main theme of the Svarna Bhumi Award 2025 is Food Self-Sufficiency Towards National Independence. The theme was chosen because a nation cannot be truly independent without achieving food self-sufficiency. He also emphasized that the Svarna Bhumi Award 2025 reflects Pupuk Indonesia’s commitment to ensuring a well-maintained food ecosystem.

“Food security is not just about providing fertilizers to the agricultural sector, but also about maintaining the overall agricultural and food ecosystem. The food heroes we are recognizing through this award are a vital part of that ecosystem. They are relentless and selfless innovators who work not only for themselves but also for the greater good,” he said.

The Svarna Bhumi Award 2025 serves as a response to the challenges of transforming the agricultural sector in the modern era. Despite the government’s massive efforts to strengthen food security, the national agricultural sector still faces several challenges, such as the slow regeneration of farmers and suboptimal technology adoption. Through appreciation events like the Svarna Bhumi Award 2025, Pupuk Indonesia hopes to encourage more breakthroughs to boost agricultural productivity and accelerate the achievement of national food self-sufficiency.

“We want to highlight the stories of food heroes who have been working sincerely. By bringing them to the forefront, we hope to inspire others. This way, agricultural regeneration and innovation can take place, and technology adoption can be achieved. In addition, the recognition of local food will also continue to grow,” Rahmad added.

Andy F. Noya, one of the judges of Svarna Bhumi 2025, said that there are many remarkable individuals around us who work without public recognition, yet their contributions significantly benefit society. Andy also highlighted that the majority of this year’s award recipients are young people.

“It’s interesting to see that this year, young people dominate the list of awardees. Most of those selected by the judges are relatively young. This gives us even more hope and enthusiasm, as it indicates that regeneration is truly happening in the agricultural sector,” he stated.

Another Svarna Bhumi Award judge, Prilly Latuconsina—who is also a social and environmental activist and Expert Panel member of the BUMN Foundation—expressed her admiration for the innovations introduced by the award recipients. She said she felt inspired, as many of them are young people with creative ideas in the agricultural field.

“The development of young farmers is truly amazing. It turns out that they have already achieved a lot, and there are many programs supporting these young farmers,” she added.

For your information, this year marks the third edition of the Svarna Bhumi Award since its inaugural launch in 2023. The program is held in collaboration between Pupuk Indonesia and the Benih Baik Foundation. The award recipients come from diverse backgrounds and are individuals who have implemented innovations and made significant social, economic, and environmental impacts on the national agricultural sector.

The selection process is rigorous and collaborative, carried out by a panel of cross-sector judges, including Rahmad Pribadi (President Director of Pupuk Indonesia), Rhenald Kasali (academic and founder of Rumah Perubahan), Andy F. Noya (founder of Benih Baik Foundation), Prilly Latuconsina (social and environmental activist, Expert Panel of BUMN Foundation), and Tri Mumpuni (social and environmental activist).
