In support of food security in eastern Indonesia, PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) provided education on balanced fertilization to thousands of farmers during the Senator Peduli Ketahanan Pangan (Senator Cares About Food Security) event held in Pangkajene and Islands Regency (Pangkep), South Sulawesi, on Saturday (September 27, 2025).

The General Manager of Regional 4 Pupuk Indonesia, Wisnu Ramadhani, stated that the company set up an exhibition booth that served as an educational hub for around 4,000 farmers who attended the event.

“Pupuk Indonesia shared information about the importance of balanced fertilization, the benefits of organic fertilizers, and the proper mechanism for distributing subsidized fertilizers. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from the large number of farmers who took the opportunity to directly consult on more effective fertilization practices,” said Wisnu.

In addition to setting up the educational booth, Wisnu mentioned that Pupuk Indonesia donated one ton of non-subsidized fertilizer, consisting of 500 kilograms of Urea Nitrea and 500 kilograms of NPK Phonska Plus. According to him, this donation was used to support the implementation of a joint corn planting program during the Senator Peduli Ketahanan Pangan event.

Furthermore, Wisnu explained that this joint planting activity is a collaborative effort to strengthen national food security. “We hope this event serves as a motivation for farmers to become more productive. Pupuk Indonesia is committed to being present not only as a fertilizer provider but also as a strategic partner that drives agricultural productivity,” he stated.

Pupuk Indonesia’s participation in this event also serves as a momentum to strengthen synergy between the central government, regional governments, legislative bodies, and strategic partners in the agricultural sector. Through educating thousands of farmers and providing fertilizer assistance, this initiative is expected to have a tangible impact on increasing agricultural productivity, especially in South Sulawesi.

This event also highlights the importance of cross-sector collaboration in ensuring sustainable food availability. Through direct support to farmers, Pupuk Indonesia aims to maintain the sustainability of food production while also promoting the welfare of farmers in the region.

Provision of 826 Tons of Subsidized Fertilizer Stock in Pangkep

To support the food self-sufficiency program in eastern Indonesia, Wisnu stated that Pupuk Indonesia has prepared 123,800 tons of subsidized fertilizer stock available for farmers registered in the Ministry of Agriculture’s Definitive Plan for Group Needs (RDKK). All of the subsidized fertilizer stock is available at Line II and Line III warehouses in districts/cities throughout South Sulawesi province, with approximately 826 tons allocated for registered farmers in Pangkep Regency.

As for distribution realization, Pupuk Indonesia has successfully delivered 455,004 tons of subsidized fertilizer throughout South Sulawesi. Specifically for Pangkep Regency, a total of 7,722 tons had been distributed as of September 24, 2025.
