During the first year of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s administration, PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) has continued to strengthen its role in supporting the government’s Asta Cita vision for national food self-sufficiency. Thanks to the strategic policies of the Prabowo–Gibran administration, various breakthroughs in fertilizer governance have been achieved, improving the availability, affordability, and distribution efficiency of fertilizers for farmers across Indonesia.

“With the full support of the President and the entire government apparatus, this year we have witnessed various strategic steps that mark a new milestone for the national fertilizer sector. During the first year of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s administration, the management of subsidized fertilizers has undergone real transformation,” said President Director of Pupuk Indonesia, Rahmad Pribadi.

One of the key breakthroughs implemented by the government is the reform of subsidized fertilizer governance through the enactment of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 6 of 2025 on the Governance of Subsidized Fertilizers and Minister of Agriculture Regulation (Permentan) No. 15 of 2025. Through these two regulations, the government has streamlined 145 existing regulations related to subsidized fertilizer governance, resulting in a shorter and more efficient distribution chain.

These regulations have also improved farmers’ access to subsidized fertilizers through the establishment of four official handover points: retailers, cooperatives, farmer groups (gapoktan), and fish farmer groups (pokdakan). This initiative stands as concrete proof of the Prabowo–Gibran administration’s commitment to prioritizing efficiency, accountability, and farmer welfare in national food policy.

“Pupuk Indonesia greatly appreciates the government’s support and policies that have produced a more accountable, efficient, and equitable fertilizer distribution system for farmers. We are committed to consistently and responsibly implementing all policies and regulations, as part of our efforts to ensure fertilizer availability and to contribute tangibly to achieving national food sovereignty and sustainable food security,” Rahmad stated.

The government’s policy support and Pupuk Indonesia’s initiatives have had a significant impact on accelerating the distribution of subsidized fertilizers. For the first time in history, the distribution of subsidized fertilizers began precisely on January 1, 2025. This timely distribution ensures that farmers receive fertilizers when they need them most.

The smooth distribution of subsidized fertilizers has continued through the fourth quarter of 2025. As of October 19, 2025, Pupuk Indonesia had distributed 6,143,650 tons of subsidized fertilizers, reaching 64% of the total national allocation of 9.55 million tons. Compared to the same period in 2024, this figure represents a 10% increase, and compared to 2023, a 23% increase.

The smooth fertilizer distribution and various other agricultural policies have ultimately boosted national agricultural productivity. This aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s statement at the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States, where he declared 2025 as a new historical milestone for Indonesia. Rice production and national food reserves have reached their highest levels in history, marking Indonesia’s success not only in achieving food self-sufficiency but also in beginning to export rice to several countries.

Moving forward, Pupuk Indonesia remains committed to strengthening its support for the government in realizing the vision of food self-sufficiency. This commitment is demonstrated not only through accurate fertilizer distribution but also through ensuring the availability of subsidized fertilizers down to retailer warehouses, allowing farmers easy access—especially during planting seasons. These collective efforts reflect Pupuk Indonesia’s tangible support in sustainably enhancing agricultural productivity.
