PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) carried out the release of ships carrying subsidized fertilizer as part of efforts to maintain smooth national distribution. The ceremony took place at the East Kalimantan Fertilizer Industrial Area (Pupuk Kaltim), Bontang, on Friday (October 31, 2025).

President Director of Pupuk Indonesia, Rahmad Pribadi, stated that the release of ships carrying subsidized fertilizer reflects Pupuk Indonesia’s readiness to ensure smooth supply during the peak of the 2025 year-end planting season.

“This morning we are witnessing the ceremonial release of a subsidized fertilizer shipment by sea, with a total tonnage of 4,650 tons. This marks the peak of the planting season, and this shipment serves as an anticipation of the high demand for subsidized fertilizer,” said Rahmad.

During the event, 4,650 tons of urea-type subsidized fertilizer were shipped to Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). All of this subsidized fertilizer can later be purchased by registered farmers in the region at the new retail ceiling price (HET) at kiosks or designated delivery points.

Previously, Pupuk Indonesia had dispatched subsidized fertilizer shipments from the Petrokimia Gresik warehouse to the Talok and Sumberejo warehouses in Bojonegoro, Jenu warehouse in Tuban, and Paron and Sidokerto warehouses in Ngawi.

The Government, through the Minister of Agriculture, Amran Sulaiman, announced a 20 percent reduction in the HET for subsidized fertilizer, effective October 22, 2025. According to Rahmad, this policy marks a historic step under President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership, emphasizing the Government’s commitment to supporting farmers—the backbone of achieving national food self-sufficiency.

“Pupuk Indonesia fully supports this policy by ensuring the smooth and accurate distribution of subsidized fertilizer throughout Indonesia—on time, in the right quantities, and to the right recipients. Therefore, we at Pupuk Indonesia are committed to guaranteeing the availability of subsidized fertilizer for farmers across the nation. Alhamdulillah, this morning’s shipment is quite special because it is the first delivery under the new HET, as directed by the President and coordinated with Danantara and the Ministry of Agriculture,” Rahmad added.

Pupuk Indonesia ensured that the new HET policy has been implemented at all fertilizer kiosks nationwide following the Government’s announcement. The company has integrated the updated HET into the Integrated Subsidized Fertilizer System (i-Pubers) and attached HET stickers at all delivery points.

“This ceremony demonstrates the readiness of the Pupuk Indonesia Group to maintain the smooth distribution of fertilizer across Indonesia and its tangible support for the HET reduction policy—strengthening farmers’ purchasing power and national food security,” he continued.

Pupuk Kaltim, as one of Pupuk Indonesia’s subsidiaries mandated to produce several types of subsidized fertilizer, reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining plant reliability. Pupuk Kaltim’s President Director, Gusrizal, said, “National food resilience and self-sufficiency can only be achieved if crop productivity remains high, supported by the availability of fertilizer. Therefore, we at Pupuk Kaltim continue to ensure the reliability of production and fertilizer quality for all registered farmers,” said Gusrizal.

As a state-owned enterprise (SOE) entrusted with producing and distributing subsidized fertilizer, Pupuk Indonesia plays a crucial role in maintaining national food security through its 7R principles (right type, right quantity, right price, right place, right time, right quality, and right administration). Hence, Pupuk Indonesia and its subsidiaries continue to promote the subsidized fertilizer policy to farmers—one such initiative being the Rembuk Tani program. This program serves as a platform for dialogue and education, helping farmers understand fertilizer price affordability while promoting sustainable innovation through mentorship and the application of digital technology to improve agricultural productivity.

Pupuk Indonesia Provides 1.44 Million Tons of Subsidized Fertilizer

Pupuk Indonesia has prepared 1.44 million tons of subsidized fertilizer for registered farmers across Indonesia. Of this amount, 276,435 tons are allocated for registered farmers in Kalimantan Island, consisting of 48,259 tons of subsidized fertilizer and 228,176 tons of non-subsidized fertilizer.

In East Kalimantan, Pupuk Indonesia has prepared a stock of 207,375 tons, comprising 4,603 tons of subsidized fertilizer and 202,772 tons of non-subsidized fertilizer. With this stock, Pupuk Indonesia ensures that registered farmers’ needs are covered for the next 55 days.

“Pupuk Indonesia believes that affordable fertilizer prices are key to farmers’ productivity. Every IDR 1,000 increase in fertilizer price can reduce fertilizer usage by 13–14 percent. Therefore, the HET reduction is not merely a policy, but a strategic step to ensure the sustainability of farming and national food independence,” Rahmad concluded.
