PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) has successfully carried out its mandate to distribute subsidized fertilizers starting January 1, 2026. This was demonstrated by the high enthusiasm of registered farmers in Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta who redeemed subsidized fertilizers at the beginning of the year.

Sarino, a farmer from Kutoarjo District, Purworejo Regency, Central Java, was among the first to redeem subsidized fertilizers in 2026. At 12:01 AM WIB at the Puji Harsono Kiosk, the farmer, who is part of the Tani Mukti Farmers Group (Poktan), redeemed two types of subsidized fertilizers for his rice crops.

The two fertilizers Sarino redeemed were Urea and NPK Phonska, each in a 50-kilogram (Kg) sack. He purchased the subsidized fertilizers at the latest Maximum Retail Price (HET), which the government had reduced by 20 percent: IDR 90,000 for Urea and IDR 92,000 for NPK Phonska. He explained that redeeming the fertilizers early was intended for planting at the start of 2026.

“Thanks to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Prabowo Subianto, and Pupuk Indonesia. I was able to redeem subsidized fertilizers in 2026, even though it was still early in the morning,” said Sarino.

The next farmer to redeem fertilizers at the beginning of 2026 was Ibnu Sugeng Ridhoi from Sentolo District, Kulonprogo Regency, Yogyakarta. At 12:03 AM WIB, the corn farmer, who is part of the Permaden Rejo Farmers Group (Poktan), successfully redeemed one sack of Urea and one sack of NPK Phonska at the Tumarindo Tani Kiosk.

Muhammad Ihwan, General Manager (GM) 2 of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), stated that the success of these two farmers proved Pupuk Indonesia’s readiness to serve farmers in meeting their fertilizer needs, even though the redemption occurred just minutes after the New Year, on January 1, 2026.

According to him, there were still several registered farmers in other areas of Central Java and Yogyakarta who redeemed subsidized fertilizers at nearly the same time as Sarino and Ibnu Sugeng Ridhoi.

Ihwan added that the fertilizer redemption process for farmers is easy, thanks to digital systems like iPubers, which Pupuk Indonesia has implemented at all official kiosks and retailers. Through iPubers, registered farmers only need to visit an official kiosk with their National ID Card (KTP) to redeem fertilizers according to their allocation and the latest HET.

He further explained that in 2026, the government allocated national subsidized fertilizers for the agricultural and fisheries sectors. The allocation for agriculture reached 9.55 million tons, the same as in 2025, while the allocation for fish farmers was 295,676 tons.

Subsidized fertilizers for agriculture can only be redeemed by farmers registered in the Ministry of Agriculture’s Electronic Definitive Group Requirement Plan (e-RDKK). For fish farmers, registration must be in the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries’ Electronic Plan for Subsidized Fertilizer Provision and Distribution (e-RPSP).

“We welcome the early-year redemption activity in 2026 because it can support the realization of national food self-sufficiency,” he said.
