Pontianak, June 5, 2026 – Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, confirmed that the distribution of subsidized fertilizers to farmers in West Kalimantan Province has been running smoothly. Speaking during the Rembuk Tani (Farmers’ Dialogue Forum) in Pontianak on Friday (June 5, 2026), he stated that, thanks to the simplification of subsidized fertilizer distribution governance fully supported by President Prabowo Subianto, subsidized fertilizers are now reaching farmers before the planting season begins.

During a dialogue session with farmers, the minister, widely known as Menko Zulhas, explained that the Government has streamlined numerous bureaucratic procedures that previously prolonged the fertilizer distribution chain. Whereas fertilizer distribution once required multiple approvals from various levels of government, the process has now been simplified, allowing fertilizers to be delivered directly to registered farmers more quickly and efficiently.

“Fertilizers must be available before the planting season begins. That is why we revised the entire regulatory framework, with the full support of President Prabowo. The Government issued Presidential Regulation No. 6 of 2025 on Subsidized Fertilizer Governance, which was subsequently refined through Presidential Regulation No. 113 of 2025. Numerous regulations were streamlined, and now the subsidized fertilizer distribution mechanism enables Pupuk Indonesia to deliver fertilizers directly to registered farmers,” said Zulhas.

The simplification of subsidized fertilizer distribution governance allows fertilizers to be redeemed from the beginning of the year. This means that whenever registered farmers require fertilizers, they can immediately redeem them according to their allocated quotas. Farmers attending the dialogue forum confirmed that fertilizer distribution has indeed become smoother, contributing to higher agricultural productivity and improved farmer welfare.

“What we want to achieve is to restore farmers’ prosperity. One of the key factors is ensuring that fertilizers are available on time,” Zulhas added.

He further noted that the Government has maintained its policy of reducing the Highest Retail Price (HET) of subsidized fertilizers by 20 percent, a measure that has been in effect since October 2025. The policy continues to ease the financial burden on farmers and reflects the Government’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector amid Rupiah depreciation and ongoing global geopolitical uncertainties.

“Prices remain discounted by 20 percent. There are very few places in the world where governments provide such discounts. While global fertilizer prices have risen, we have reduced prices instead. This reflects President Prabowo’s commitment to achieving food self-sufficiency,” Zulhas emphasized.

According to Zulhas, these policy reforms have already delivered tangible results on the ground, as reflected by the strong uptake of subsidized fertilizers among farmers. Nationally, subsidized fertilizer distribution in 2026 had exceeded 4 million tons by early June, out of the Government’s total allocation of 9.8 million tons.

Meanwhile, Wono Budi Tjahyono, Finance Director of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), expressed appreciation for the Government’s support in enabling Pupuk Indonesia and its subsidiaries to distribute subsidized fertilizers more efficiently. He noted that the various improvements introduced by the Government have significantly increased fertilizer uptake among farmers.

For West Kalimantan Province, the Government has allocated 183,745 tons of subsidized fertilizers in 2026, consisting of 55,022 tons of Urea, 107,308 tons of NPK Phonska, 21,330 tons of Petroganik organic fertilizer, 86 tons of SP-36 fertilizer, Farmer uptake in West Kalimantan has been relatively strong, reaching 81,657 tons during the year. As of June 4, 2026, distribution realization had reached approximately 44 percent of the province’s total allocation.

“This uptake rate is quite significant and reflects the positive impact of the Government’s reforms in subsidized fertilizer distribution governance,” said Wono.

To support continued fertilizer uptake, Pupuk Indonesia has prepared 825,147 tons of subsidized fertilizer stocks nationwide. As of June 4, 2026, the inventory consisted of 531,200 tons of Urea, 221,396 tons of NPK Phonska, 11,379 tons of NPK Special Cocoa fertilizer, 18,143 tons of SP-36, 3,396 tons of ZA, 39,634 tons of organic fertilizer. Meanwhile, fertilizer stocks in West Kalimantan stood at 9,701 tons, comprising of 6,642 tons of Urea, 2,576 tons of NPK Phonska, 483 tons of organic fertilizer, These inventory levels remain above the minimum stock requirements established by the Government.

On the same occasion, Pupuk Indonesia also provided fertilizer assistance to farmers in Pontianak. The assistance forms part of the Company’s commitment to improving agricultural productivity and supporting the sustainability of Indonesia’s national food self-sufficiency program.
